Hotel Oswald
Via Meisules 140
I - 39048 Selva Val Gardena - South Tyrol

Hotel Oswald is a hotel with deep-rooted tradition and great style.
It was once the place to be for Europe's high society when tourism in Selva was still in its infancy. It was first erected in 1896 by Karl Pitscheider who also owned the hotel "Al Cervo". It was enlarged in 1906 when it was given its unique shape: the second wing and the tower, the unmistakable symbol of the Hotel. With the increasing popularity of winter sports in Val Gardena Hotel Oswald became one of the most luxurious hotels of its time.
During the Second World War the hotel functioned as hospital for young soldiers. After the war under the leadership of Ossi Pitscheider it gained its former glamour and splendour. Adopting several marketing strategies he succeeded in attracting hundreds of guests even including students from Oxford and Cambridge.

Because of financial problems the grand hôtel closed in 1966. It was reopened for a short time in 1970. Only in 1978 a corporation of local entrepreneurs was founded who settled the debts, bought the hotel and renovated it. In 1981 the hotel was reopened and a new era began for the tradition-bound Hotel Oswald.
